IATE - The EU's Terminology Management System
About IATE
Translation providers such as Dréimire – Language Services use many kinds of online resources and dictionaries in order to provide accurate translations from English to Irish. One of the most highly recognised and widely used dictionary resources is the EU’s terminology system, accessible here.
IATE (Interactive Terminology for Europe) is the EU's terminology management system. It has been used in the EU institutions and agencies since summer 2004 for the collection, dissemination and management of EU-specific terminology. The project was launched in 1999 with the aim of providing a web-based infrastructure for all EU terminology resources, enhancing the availability and standardisation of the information.

The current new version of IATE was launched on 7 November 2018 following the complete reconstruction of the system with state-of-the-art technologies, the latest software development standards, best practices on usability and accessibility, and a new look and feel.
A few improvements and new functionalities are now available to internal and public users, and the EU interinstitutional terminology database will continue to evolve in the coming months and years to meet the needs and wishes of EU linguists and IATE users in general.
